Casual for the Holidays

Whoa! I can’t believe it but it’s finally here, a new blog post!! In the beginning of this month my sweet friend Dani and her baby boy Tanner came to visit us! Those poor Floridians were really in for it because it was a chilly week! I was so thankful for her visit because it really encouraged me to be brave and take more outings with Jack. He’s two months old now and is starting to be a little more predictable, making it easier to get him and I out of the house! Which, is much needed! I can’t stay on Pinterest and watch my shows everyday (okay really I could, but I know I shouldn’t!). So these photos were from a day we went out to lunch together in our little old town down the street and shopped in a few of the local stores.

Jack isn’t exactly ready to pose for the camera yet, but fingers crossed with some more practice he will crack a smile or two! :) This jacket from Anthro. is already sold out but the top is still available in a few colors for just under $30! Peplum’s are my new fav. mommy shirt. They’re so feminie and hide my post baby bod! Layering on a fitted jacket like this is a great way to complete the look! I think this is an easy go to ensemble to put together for most holiday outtings! And for me this year, I’ve gotta keep it casual with baby boy, so this is my take on a dressed up casual look (if that’s a thing lol).

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season so far! Thanks for stopping by!

Dare I say it, I finished the nursery! Okay, okay, so I kinda feel like it’s not 100% done, BUT, it’s as done as it’s going to be until our little Jack arrives. Overall, I’m so happy with the way it turned out. When I imagined what I wanted his room to reflect, I knew above all it should feel calming. I also wanted it to be a happy space with a side of quirk (hence all my Anthro. finds). I am not a super themed kind of person, my style remains eclectic always, but if if I had to say there was a theme it would include woodland animals. My hope was to keep the basics in his room age and gender neutral so he could grow into it or it could be home to another baby down the road. Much further down the road! I apologize that there aren’t a whole lot of photos of large spaces in his nursery. It is a fairly small space which made for photographing it at 9 months pregnant not the easiest task in the world!

Speaking of, I am ready to meet my sweet little bear! Today marks 39 weeks! Jack is a name that Alex and I both loved and we felt that it fit us to a tee. His middle name is William, after one of Alex’s dear best friends. We cannot wait to meet you Jack!

A few weeks ago Alex and I took our maternity photos with our beloved friend, Sarah of Photos by Sarah Beth. Not only did we enjoy ourselves so much, but we were thrilled with the beautiful photos captured that day. It was so important to me to have this special time documented. Sometimes I still have to pinch myself to realize that this is actually happening. We are just about two months away from meeting our sweet boy and I still feel like I have a million and one things to do to prepare. But it’s sweet reminders like these photographs that make me stop and soak in the miracle that this pregnancy is. If you live in the DC metro area, Maryland, Northern Virginia, or anywhere on the globe (Sarah loves traveling)- she is truly the BEST and will go above and beyond to make sure you receive breathtaking images. We have to many pictures from our session that I had the hardest time choosing just a few to blog and had to break up the photos in two parts..so stay tuned for part 2 folks!
