I had the BEST day yesterday with my sweet husband, Alex, exploring our neighboring city of Washington. We love when we make the time to get out there and see the sights and eat the eats. And let me tell you- there are some AMAZING eats in D.C.! We ate lunch at Buredo off 14th St. NW where we had the freshest sushi as big as a burrito!! Get it, Buredo? After lunch we walked to the critically acclaimed Astro Doughnuts! They did not disappoint! Between Sugar Shack Donuts on Tuesday, and then Astro yesterday I have had the best donuts in my life in a matter of a few days span. No my thighs are not winning, but, my sweet tooth is! I’m a good girl- usually! But we’re all human right?!

Alex and I then sought out the spot where he proposed to me three years ago on August 9th, 2012. That photo is of us standing in that very spot in the Navy memorial in the heart of D.C.! It’s not our first time back there, more like our 3rd or 4th, but every time is just as nostalgic! Talk about holy ground! Anywho, I decided to give my 4th of July inspired look a twist yesterday- literally with a side twist on my chambray tank to define a waistline (which is slowly dwindling from the donuts). I switched things up even more so by wearing my mini pleated metallic skirt. I felt like it was such a fun swap for a predictable denim or white. I have linked some very affordable metallic skirt options above- two silver & one blush metallic!

I’m feeling extremely grateful today for our freedom as Americans, and hope all of you have a fun filled day with your family and friends!! I’ll be going to the Foo Fighters concert here in D.C. today, and can’t wait to watch the firework display over their stage at nightfall!!

Sisters Thai & The 4th of July

Good food is all the better when shared with good friends! This couldn’t be more true! Last week a few of my girlfriends and I were in foodie heaven at Sisters Thai in the Mosaic District! This “living room cafe” opened just a few short weeks ago and I’m sure it’ll be a sensation in the busy Mosaic. The European inspired decor, the top-notch drinks, and the exemplary menu all married together to make it a memorable evening! As if we weren’t already impressed, the bar manager Charles, came to our table and gave us his speal of all the drinks on the menu (many he created himself)! The “banana bread” came in three mini mason jars and was the fav. at our table! Also, be sure to order yourself a Thai iced tea from any thai restaurant- you will be pleasantly surprised!

We were celebrating two major life milestones that evening- My dear friend Lori’s birthday & my sweet friend Dani from Drafts and Crafts farewell to Florida! While I am beyond sad that Dani moved, I am more happy that I got to connect with someone from my hometown. Meeting her and Lori this year has proved to me that you can indeed make new friends when you move to a new city! Despite my pessimistic thoughts when I first moved to VA.. I think I am just now starting to exit out of my adjustment phase from recently getting married and moving to more of a settled life- and that feels really good right now!

The stripped little number I wore was from the Gap last year, but I linked a few similar ones with the same fit and flare silhouette! And of course this look is 4th of July inspired! I cannot wait to celebrate my favorite Summer holiday this Saturday! Please feel free to reach out to me any time in the comments button below!

*** Myself, along with a small group of very talented bloggers will be launching a Summer giveaway on Instagram on Wednesday evening between 6:00-7:00pm! Be sure to enter- the prizes are amazing!***

Yesterday was one of those days that I found myself feeling so happy and grateful. Happy because I had so much fun exploring the sweet eats and pretty sights of Old Town Alexandria. Grateful because I spent the day with my husband and two sweet new friends, Dani and her husband Jason. In case you didn’t know, I am a Florida girl that’s new to living in the DC metro area. Since moving here, it hasn’t exactly been easy to make new friends. So when I met Dani and found out her and her husband are from Fl too, I was ecstatic! Turns out she has a life + style blog too and I’m kind of obsessed! You can check out Dani on her blog Drafts & Crafts here along with her Etsy shop here!

Dani and I have an extra special collaboration project in the works – stay tuned!!
