I am so in love with the bright colors from this Maeve top from Anthro.! The material of it is satin like and gives it a very lux feel. It’s a great transition piece into dare I say, the FALL season! Yes, it’s almost that time! How did August get here so fast- I do not know- but I welcome Fall with open arms! I love the warm colors of Fall and the way you can load on the layers with outfits. It really is my favorite season to dress for. I didn’t want to get too ahead of myself when styling this top because it is still technically Summer, so I paired it with easy denim cut offs.

My goal lately has been to mold this blog into a more colorful and inspiring space. That was my initial intention when starting Josie in Color, and what I’ve realized is that I haven’t exactly been on target with my materializing my vision. In the weeks to come you can expect to start seeing minor changes on here that aim closer to my mission. If you follow me on instagram than you already know I recently worked with an AH-mazing local DC photographer Sarah Beth, of Photos by Sarah Beth and oh my goodness did she help me produce images that are so on point with my ultimate vision. More of that to come in the weeks to follow- I literally cannot wait to share the beautiful work she created for Josie in Color. And I can assure you it will not be the last time I work with her!

Oh and I hope you guys like my new-do! It feels so refreshing!!

Sisters Thai & The 4th of July

Good food is all the better when shared with good friends! This couldn’t be more true! Last week a few of my girlfriends and I were in foodie heaven at Sisters Thai in the Mosaic District! This “living room cafe” opened just a few short weeks ago and I’m sure it’ll be a sensation in the busy Mosaic. The European inspired decor, the top-notch drinks, and the exemplary menu all married together to make it a memorable evening! As if we weren’t already impressed, the bar manager Charles, came to our table and gave us his speal of all the drinks on the menu (many he created himself)! The “banana bread” came in three mini mason jars and was the fav. at our table! Also, be sure to order yourself a Thai iced tea from any thai restaurant- you will be pleasantly surprised!

We were celebrating two major life milestones that evening- My dear friend Lori’s birthday & my sweet friend Dani from Drafts and Crafts farewell to Florida! While I am beyond sad that Dani moved, I am more happy that I got to connect with someone from my hometown. Meeting her and Lori this year has proved to me that you can indeed make new friends when you move to a new city! Despite my pessimistic thoughts when I first moved to VA.. I think I am just now starting to exit out of my adjustment phase from recently getting married and moving to more of a settled life- and that feels really good right now!

The stripped little number I wore was from the Gap last year, but I linked a few similar ones with the same fit and flare silhouette! And of course this look is 4th of July inspired! I cannot wait to celebrate my favorite Summer holiday this Saturday! Please feel free to reach out to me any time in the comments button below!

Red White & Blue Outfitting Inspiration

My husband and had our date night last weekend in our hometown of Old Town Fairfax. We had the best time walking around in the warm weather and discovering new little shops and eateries. Our first stop was at an authentic Irish Pub, The Auld Shebeen, where we sipped on the local beers (on the house for it being our first visit), devoured the mussels app, and listened to the live Irish Band. We then decided to transition straight into dessert at Woody’s Ice Cream located in the heart of downtown Fairfax. Alex had their famous soft serve chocolate dipped twist cone. I of course had their soft serve vanilla on a cake cone with rainbow sprinkles. I’m all about the rainbow sprinkles! After dessert we checked out a vintage inspired barber shop, The Standard, and finally found ourselves a surf shop! Every former beach townie knows the love of a good surf shop. It is amazing what you can discover in your own backyard if you just get out there!

My outfit for the night was of course inspired by one of mine and Alex’s favorite holidays, The Fourth of July! If you know me, you know I like to be festive! Now, I try not to cross the line between festive and cheesy but I do enjoy dressing for the occasion. I think this stripped jersey skirt can be a summer staple for many of you. It’s light, flattering, and so cute right?! I’ll try and feature some more 4th looks before the holiday hits so stay tuned!!
